Orthodontic Emergencies
The second link is for ORTHODONTIC EMERGENCIES. If you have an orthodontic
emergency, the best thing would be to look up this link before you call the
office. This will allow us a better chance to help you because we can both go
to the website which has good pictures.
If for some reason, you cannot reach the office or get emergency help there
are temporary immediate relief products that can be purchased at Rite-Aid
which is right across the street from the office. Other drug stores have the
same products. Here are a few of them:
If you have broken your tooth and there is now a hole and it is starting to
throb, buy the toothache kit by dentek, www.usdentek,com, and follow the
directions. They give you a cotton applicator which you dip in medication which you can apply to the tooth (this medication has eugenol in it which will help sooth your tooth for awhile.)
If you have lost part of your filling and the tooth is not throbbing, dentek
makes another product called Lost Filling Loose Crown Repair. This come in a
paste which you apply to the broken tooth to temporarily seal it. There is
another product called Dent’s Extra Strength Toothache Gum which is waxy and does the same thing. This product can also be applied to a broken tooth that is cutting the tongue. Orthodontic Brace Wax, available at Rite Aid can do the same thing.
For a broken denture, there is a product called D.O.C. Denture Repair Kit which
you can temporarily fix your broken denture or re-cement a denture tooth. Unfortunately,
this will only last a few days. This is also available at Rite Aid and other drug stores.
